    Jomtien or Rayong?

    Two part question:

I need to spend some time with my stepson and MIL and driving down this way works real well for a weekend.

Jomtien......we can rent a nice villa with private pool for the whole family..... similar to what we did in Hua Hin. Now I hate Pattaya but I heard Jomtien pretty cool? Is it overrun by Chinese?

Rayong.....I've never been down this way, we have a couple good Thai friends we met in Vancouver from there. Anyone ever stayed down that way? Would a farang like it? I don't need it to be so touristy, I'm fine with 100% Thai for a couple days

But I might lean towards villa in Jomtien and a ride down to Rayong one day to see friends

I have not been to Rayong for a couple of years but Jomtien would still be my pick.

I have been to Rayong twice but not for about 18 months. I went with some of my Thai mountain bike buddy's and we stayed at Kameo Grand. It had a pool and a roof top bar. I think there was a games room with table tennis as well.

I remember the rooms are big, we had 5 of us and 5 bikes & gear in the room. 55

Jomtien is where I stay, because it ain't Pattaya... Everything you want is there... Way Way Way quieter than Pattaya.. Not too many Chinese around at the moment because of low season and the (555) "CRACKDOWN" (555) on zero dollar tour companies. The GG loves a good "crackdown" 555

Bang Saray is very nice with some nice sea food on the beach places.... again pretty quiet, quieter again than Jomtien, and is about 15-20 minutes by car from Jomtien.
Life is short..... and love is always over in the morning.

    Good man!

Slightly more seriously I'm pleased to see you are going over to Thailand and I hope that it all works out with Ao. I admired your efforts to get the stepson out to Canada (even if it didn't work out). You seem to have your ups and downs as we all do but the "downs" make us appreciate the "ups" even more.

I still chuckle at the story I seem to remember you told of her introducing you to her "First Farang" - a slightly older bemused Japanese man I recall!

    Or was that someone else?

Kameo Grand looked good, more new than the place I am looking at
But this place is bigger and has a bunch of stuff for kids like bowling, games......my stepson and his gf will like that

And I like getting away for a couple days to an all Thai type of area

    I vaguely remember that...

I had a time share in Jomptien for 10 years before finally giving it up. I don't recall any great numbers of Chinese, but lots of gays. The beach was a bit quieter than Pattaya, but just as polluted. Same kind of bars, but fewer. Less choices for dining, but okay.

Rayong is a lot farther to travel, but some of my friends like it.

How many fresh towels each per day Paulie? 55555!
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!
