^ rather they used coal than nukes.
It certainly ain't clean unless they use the carbon capture tech that Turnbull has been on about. Don't think the Thais would be capable of pulling it off

^^ I tend to disagree about nukula. There seems to be a lot more control around it now.

The only downside is the waste and cooling issues adding to global warming 555.

I wonder when a nuke plant will become a terrorist target.

Coal isn't as dirty as it used to be either but it needs the right technology from the start.

The Krabi Coal plant is the first of NINE such plants the Thai government proposes to build in the next two decades.

Oh...and the other thing they want to build in Krabi is a whopping sea terminal for all the coal to be shipped in through........
.....that's gonna look great in the background of your holiday selfies......

    In the next five years,
China will build 200 gigawatts of coal fired power. (That’s three times Australia’s total electricity grid).
Japan is building dozens of new-generation coal power stations.
Vietnam is building at least a dozen all-new plants that will reduce CO2 emissions by at least 30 per cent.
Malaysia commissioned its high efficiency power plant in April, 2015, and a second in March, 2016. Several more are planned.
Thailand commissio*ned its first HELE plant in 2012 and
Indonesia and the Philippines are following suit.

Just been reading up on the "clean coal" thing.
Looks like there's nasty chemicals needed to make it work and it soaks up a sh1t load of the relevant power stations electricity to do it...not that its been able to be done yet.
I'm calling it a no goer.
    Gas is still the go.

Kudos to the forward-thinking Thai government. Coal is the way of the future. Unlike evil, immoral technologies like wind, solar and hydro that lead to the depletion of the sun, breathing air and water and can cause the downfall of civilisation.
