    Pattaya to Hua Hin

    Hi all,
I'm heading to Pattaya for about 7-9 days at this stage and am thinking of splitting up my time in Pattaya with a trip to Hua Hin. Has anyone travelled on the ferry across the bay yet? Is there a nightlife scene over there? I've done a bit of googling and as far as attractions go they're suggesting a train station?! I'm kinda searching for that Lamai feel and don't think I'm going to get it in Pattaya.

I think Hua Hin can be great if you do it right.
You must stay right inside the main area(The Hilton is awesome)
If you do it is am awesome holiday... Very laid back, small good restaurants.
The bar area right in HH is the best bar area in all of Thailand, IMO
Its like a big square with big bars so not crammed in to little beer bars
That being said.....you won't find as many pretty girls as you would in Pattaya but there is always a pretty girl everywhere in Thailand.

There is also another bar area....I think Soi 80
That is more geared towards expats

the bar scene in HH is pretty comparable to Lamai...a bit less raunchy and the gals a little older but in vibe and size not so different

as M26 says the square area just behind the Hilton there is the place to go...its called soi bintabaht

I've haven't done the boat crossing for many years..it was stopped for years and has just started again (last year iirc) but it was way better back then than going by car/bus

Is it worth a few days over there? Checked out the rooms at the Hilton and you can get them for around $178aud/night and up. I'm thinking about possibly spending the first 4-5 nights in Pattaya then HH for the next 4 days or so then heading up to BKK for a couple of nights before heading home.

Is the Hilton girl-friendly? I would suspect not.

I checked again and it starts at $172/night mid July when I'm looking at being there. Rooms seem quite small though.

    Vurt da furk!

Pitch a tent on the side of the road these days and it'll end up on Agoda next week. These guys need to pull the thumb out.

Is it just as easy to get back to BKK from HH as from Pattaya? I can only assume the costs would be similar?
