    Jingluck beats Thaksin

Jingluck has beaten older brother Thaksin by being sentenced to 5 years (in absentia, of course).

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!

    I'm not so sure.
When her Commerce Minister got 42 years in the monkeyhouse a few days earlier the writing was on the wall.

Better than the good old days of jolly Great Britain. In those days you lost your head once you fell out of favour. Their beautiful female consort just moved sideways to the new guy.

seems to be the Thai military MO in dealing with ex-PM political opponents...find a charge...any charge will do...then have a whispers campaign about how much time they may get in jail until they are that scared that they flee the country, with a little help from friends in high places...all very neat and convenient

Just as well the Junta handed themselves Section 44 (immunity from any prosecution) for similar charges (negligence)....555

You have to look at this creatively..

A PM is elected, so should answer to the electorate..
    While not elected.. Cannot..! 555

It was probably the smartest thing the Junta has done, in expediting Yingluck's exit from the country. The last thing they would want is a Thai "Su Kyi" sitting in one of their jails.

When is the election...... again? Lying bastards...
Life is short..... and love is always over in the morning.

What a surprise ... three months to get himself organised ... failed to respond to the two summons, adequate time to get out of the country

Warrant issued for ex-police officer accused of helping Yingluck flee
    November 25, 2017
The anti-corruption court has issued an arrest warrant for a fired senior Metropolitan Police officer accused of helping former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra flee the country ahead of her court verdict in August.
The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases on Friday issued the warrant for Pol Colonel Chairit Anurit, former deputy commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5. He was accused of malfeasance and violating Article 157 of the Criminal Code. Chairit has failed to respond to two summons sent to him by the Royal Thai police to answer charges of malfeasance.
The National Council for Peace and Orderís legal department officer early this month filed a complaint accusing Chairit of dereliction of duty for failing to arrest Yingluck despite knowing that she was a defendant in a case over the handling of her governmentís rice-pledging scheme. The NCPO complaint is in addition to a criminal charge against Chairit for using a fake vehicle licence plate, and the disciplinary action taken against him earlier by the police that resulted in his dismissal from service.

^ does that mean that Yingluck was allowed to flee the country by the NCPO?
it never seemed likely from my POV.

The same sort of corruption happens in other countries... they just "legalize" it. 55

    Comedy show...

    21 Nov 2017
    BANGKOK

Public prosecutors said Tuesday they would pursue two corruption cases against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra despite the fact that he’s outside the country.
Fresh trials against the deposed former premier, who was convicted in absentia nine years ago, were made possible by a new law passed in July by the junta’s rubber-stamp parliament which cleared the way for prosecuting him anew.
A spokesman for the attorney general said it was not meant to target the 67-year-old tycoon, who remained the de facto leader of the government toppled by the current junta three years ago.

Still no news from Interpol members on Yingluck’s location
    November 07, 2017
The more than 190 members of Interpol seemingly still have no information to offer in regard to the whereabouts of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who fled Thailand more than two months ago.
Pol Colonel Krisana Patanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, said on Tuesday that none of the 192 member countries had informed the Bangkok Interpol office of any clues as to the location of the fugitive politician.
Yingluck has neither been heard from nor seen since she fled the Kingdom.
