Angkor is not just a bunch of temples, it's one of the greatest Wonders of the World. One cannot visualise the scope of construction undertaken in a short space of (ancient) times without wondering how they managed to quarry and transport the volume of stone and sizes used. I found it far more interesting than say the Pyramids which appear childs-play-lego by comparison. 55

    Cheers, Rob.
Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting: holy s.h.i.t what a ride!

I am not a traditional Buddhist temple guy

And why I haven't visited Siem Reap in 15 years out of ignorance

But I view Siem Reap and Angkor Wat as more or a ruins and archioligical site more than a temple site

    And that.....I am extremely interested

I remember visiting a "temple " in Suphan Buri
    It wasn't a temple, IMO....moreso a muesum

And I was fascinated by the tapestry depicting wars with Burma and the artifacts displayed

While Ao and her family found a som tam stall in the parking lot

My solo trio to Siem Reap I envision as:

    Arrive at 11am
Take a dip in the pool and then go suss out the area
With a nice dinner and home by 12am

Up 5am and head to the sites
And hit them hard until I am tired.....back at Hotel and pool

    Repeat the same next day

And I don't mind saying I am excited to do it on my on at my place

My wife wouldn't have been as enthusiastic

Completely understand. I'd also like to visit Siem Reap one day but so far every time the opportunity has presented itself I've just blown it off to stay in Thailand.
