    Learning the language

This may have been discussed about elsewhere.....

I am wanting to learn the language and because i have a Thai partner (like most here) already have one foot in the door for help and corrections....

I understand this venture will be a big challenge for me so need to start at the bottom of the mountain and slowly ascend step by step.... Only interested in speaking really..... Writing may or may not come later....

My question is, has anyone here learnt the language by online tutoring providers ? and if so, because there is many, can anyone recommend any.....

I want my schooling to start asap 555

But seriously Im interested to see how you go, my wife and I are currently in negotiations to buy a Thai resturant and we have discussed her learning Thai as we will be employing Thai staff. Plus we have lots of Thai friends.

A good place to start is right here on this forum.

    Chobs Approach to Learning Thai

As Dean says it isn't text book but real life stuff.

I should have done that 20 years ago, but I didn't realize I would still be doing this 20 years later. Now I'm too bloody old and all I've done is pick up a few phrases. 555

The thread is fantastic ....... Thanks to Chob....... I have already started and already are familiar with the simple common words for a sentence.....

Pom .... Chan .... Ter ..... Kow ..... pbai .... etc etc is very useful.....

As recommended by Chob, i have made up a pocket card and am practicing when ever i can....

Last night i sent SI a text message using some of these words to form a sentence and she was stoked that i have started to make an effort to learn some of the Lango.......

    Happy days.........................
