    Thai with British accent

2x tonight at 2 different hotel bars/restaurant I had a Thai male server who spoke English with a decidedly British accent

I asked both where they were from and figured they went to school in England but both never left Thailand

I imagine they desired to have a British accent and there is an English school that teaches with a British accent?

I've never come about that before in Thailand

The one's that go to a US International school in Thailand can end up sounding like they have studied in the US. I often mistake them for Filipino.

Not long ago I went to a thai blessing of a new house. The Monks where there, all the Thai girls were dressed up. The new owners had a visit from their relatives who lived in Liverpool. Mom and Dad spoke broken English with a northern thai accent, but the kids spoke perfect Scouse.

    Reminded me of Geordio

Noi in CM-69 bar had a cockney accent...different.

An old guy out in the boonies was a security guard at a Tesco Lotus and came over to me and spoke perfect English one time.
Told me he had worked at a big hotel somewhere in Laos for a lot of his life and picked up the English there. He was wrapped to have someone to use it on. Couldn't detect an accent with him though.

There was an elderly (60s?) Thai lady pushing a cart full of various food items to sell. She stopped at the cafe where I frequently eat and I bought a bag of "goodies" from her. Her English was excellent, but I couldn't put a "location" to it, other than being American or Canadian. We talked for about 15 minutes. I asked if she had been to North America, but she had never been out of Thailand. She was a lovely woman with a good command of the English language. I always try to buy something from her when ever I see her. I don't like to be too "nosy" but I always wonder about her past. She was obviously very attractive when she was younger.

an exTGF of mine spoke with a soft American accent...she has never been to the USA in all her life but went to an international school with mostly American teachers...

Gal who worked down my local 7/11 speaks with an cockney english accent...her Mum married a cockney guy and she went to live in London's Shoreditch from the age of 8 until she finished school (18)...she then came back to Thailand to live for a year (gap year) before heading back to the UK a couple of months ago to start Uni...I used to love asking her questions just to hear her talk..I always ended up walking away with a smile on my face...lovely wee thing, steely and witty...I hope she does well at Uni...whip sharp

Can you tell the difference between an English accent.. and a Kiwi accent?
My only experience was in a pie making factory managing the gravy team
