From what I've heard and experienced, Thailand has cut back on fireworks all over the country.

Hard to imagine NYE in Pattaya without the smell of cordite in the air. 555

My friends were just down there the past 4 days. I will ask them when they get home. I noticed a distinct cut back in Chiang Mai this year. It was all over by 12:30 AM and didn't start much before midnight.

Not in Bangkok. Saw an amazing video on webangkok's Instagram of the entire Chayo Praya lit up. Next year I want to try and be in Thailand for NYE. If I am I'll be sure to get a hotel along the river with a rooftop bar for the view.

    The rooms look good.

Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

I've always wanted to stay in that room

The only issue is no pool and I use the pool a ton

^ Do some rooms have direct pool access? Surely not a big effort to walk down to it though. Kicking back on that balcony, watching the fireworks would be great.

My friends just came back from 5 days over the New Years eve period. They confirmed what I wrote and oldfella said. There was a brief period of fireworks and then it was all over... pretty much what we had in Chiang Mai. ... a half hour of explosions and then it was over.

The hotel doesn't have a pool
    It's a pretty small hotel

I'd just double book it for the one night.
