Here in Aust. If you don't have a baseball with the bat it is considered a deadly weapon, even if it is in the wardrobe at your home.

I had a Bat but no ball and found out about the law the hard way. I got fined.

People still watch TV? Last time I watched any television everything was still analogue. Fecked if I know how to even connect my tv up nowadays. You need boxes and things now don't ya?
It's all cat videos for me now, thanks very much. I watch them on my phone while walking around.
Worry is a misuse of the imagination.

Just have Netflix and broadband now. Even though I have cancelled tv I still have to pay a tv license as my tv is capable of receiving. Doesn’t bother me it’s a tax. There are some great tv shows especially documentaries made. But to pay for the channels that is mostly on Netflix anyway doesn’t interest me. Sports are one thing but I can stream them and mirror on tv anyway.

I can do without tv but could never do without my phone or tablet.

That's absurd. How is it enforced anyway? By inspection?

Yes. And jail if you go to court and refuse to pay fine. As most houses have an aerial, or cable or satellite it’s pretty easy to reconcile a house with no license to this. Also, a look through the window and a tv seen is enough for a knock. We are actually going to have a tax soon where every household gets hit. Doesn’t bother me, I have a go although no channels but listen to radio on way to work which actually catches you,.

If you buy it it’s not too bad. But the television license ads in Ireland are notorious. Some are freaky.

    The parodies are even better.

BBC TV licence is just like a subscription though... and cheap at that.... not too different from a Netflix subscription... you'd expect to be arrested if you got caught not paying for that too.. 55

BBC has no advertising, so it needs some form of income.

But it's not like it just does news. And you know a more neutral broadcaster then? BBC is only one I know that gets accused of being too right and too left... 55

You telling my Blackadder and Monty Python is bullshit propaganda... 55

I suspect eventually it will become a commercial broadcaster... and will be all the sadder for it...

    we had it here too...

To avoid fines people took to hiding their TV antennas in chimneys and roofs and TV sets were even hidden in cupboards
