I haven't been to Hua Hin in 20 years when it was just the weekend beach get-away for Bangkok residents. I had a lady from Sakon Nakon with me, and we were taking the train south to Surat Thani, and from there to Koh Samui. We stopped for one night at Hua Hin.

Any one ever taken the ferry over from Pattaya? Seems a better option than train or road from BKK. Just over 2 hours by ferry.

I am sure someone did... but I have a feeling it was someone who isn't a regular poster... in fact his last post may have been telling us he was trying the ferry...

Have been to Hua Hin a few times now and always have a good time. Like M26 I like the beer bar area in the centre of town and have enjoyed it every time I have been.
Plenty of cheap accommodation (even around the main bar area).
Well worth a visit Oldfella, if you have never been. Do not think I would venture out as far as Cha Am to stay though.

Cha Am is worth a look . Me and a Mate stayed at HH , one day we caught the Local Bus to Cha Am to have a look around .
When we got there we rented a couple of Push Bikes and rode up to the Pier for some exercise . It was interesting watching the boats unloading their catch and poked around the area but not much else to see son rode back down and had lunch and a couple of beers at Cha Am .
Tbh not much going on there but the beach seemed a little cleaner than HH so went for swim ......Na it still had that slimy feel about it so got out and found a hose to try rinse of the filth 55 .
All in all still was worth a poke around . It was funny getting back to HH and thinking we were back in the 'Big Smoke' compared to Cha Am .

The best thing about Cha Am and it's very much what Thais do

Is sitting on the chairs on the beach and ordering food from a restaurant that is associated with those chairs

Pretty affordable and served right to you on the beach
