Phuket is quite dangerous for tourists and ex pats some of the stats are quite surprising.
Maybe commonsense is left behind when people visit....

It could be a strain of food poisoning. The one I had in Pattaya last year from oysters started off with the vomiting and severe diarrhoea... but then I fell into unconsciousness and woke up lying on the floor in the bathroom... with a very bruised head and cuts down one side of my body where I had fallen... never experienced anything like it. Dragged myself to the bed and blacked out again... woke up 6 hours later feeling a lot better...

Could see how easily these things can escalate... especially if you have any underlying health problems.

Lucky some of my good friends are GPs back in the UK. Once I woke up and phoned one of them to see what I should do next... he said... "don't worry. Drink fluids and electrolytes... if it's salmonella you'll be fine by tomorrow. If you deteriorate... panic..." 555

I was much better next day. He later told me it is quite common to black out if salmonella... but 99% of people recover in a day or two.
