    Bangkok apartments

Planning on staying in Bangkok for a bit over a month, and looking for a fully furnished apartment, maybe 2 bedroom.

On a previous visit, I have checked out a few around the 20,000 to 25,000 baht per month price (including linen and cleaning). Nonsi Residence was the only one that appealed in this price range.

    Nonsi Residence

Main criteria is comfortable (air-con), close to food & train, and has a pool.

Any suggestions around this sort of price?

I stayed here when I was in Bangkok for a few months. I stayed in one of the smaller rooms for 13,000 baht per month. Great place, good aircon, Wifi, kitchen area... except no pool... but only 5 mins walk to BTS on Soi 36, Sukhumvit.

Should not be hard....Though i would get there first and look rather than via internet as there can be other factors that agents don't tell you like construction that starts every morning at 7 am.....
Soi 26 a load of up market apartments BTS at one end and big shopping centres the other.

Thanks DP. I have had a look at that one. They were quoting 24k baht per month, but based on a 1 year term. This was for a 1 bedroom 60-70 sqm. One side of the building was quite good, nice view, a lot of light, however the other side was butting up against a building which was under construction. I might have another look as I liked the location, but really want a pool.

Agree, and things change very quickly re construction.

Plan to spend a day looking before heading to Hong Kong for a week, and then move in when I get back.

Have stayed in Soi 33. I like this area, particularly the street food.

That building under construction was left unconstructed back in 2010. Unless they have started a new project? So no noise at all when I was there. Visit the place and have a look around. Then make them an offer... if they aren't full they will bite your hand off. 24k must be for one of their large suites...

edit. Sounds like you looked around it already?

    Hi Nomad,
I'll be staying here in Dec/Jan

Sukhumvit Hotel-Silom Hotel - Bally's Studio Suites, Discount Bangkok Hotels , Bangkok Room - Hotel Official Site

Direct contact ( not through Agoda) last month offerred the following long term rates

Studio room @ THB 32,000 net per room per month for room only no breakfast
Superior room @ THB 34,000 net per room per month for room only no breakfast
Suite room @ THB 36,000 net per room per month for room only no breakfast
Deluxe room @ THB 42,000 net per room per month for room only no breakfast

Dec/Jan is high season..and generally, the smaller the soi number the higher the price, though Soi 8 is supposed to have some good deals

When will you be there Nomad?

Thanks Steve. Looks good. I am assuming there is no extra charge for electricity and water. Correct?

I will be there during October.

It looks very nice DP. Soi36, is that a little too far out of town. We stayed in Soi 11 last time but I have been wondering if an apartment would be better than a hotel. Do they do weekly rentals in BKK, most websites seem to point to monthly only. Annie.

At the time 3 months was the minimum contract. I think they may offer monthly contracts if they aren't busy...

Soi 36 isn't too bad. I used to walk to Soi Cowboy every day. Was about a 30 minute walk... or 2 mins on the BTS.

I lifted this from my TR I know they do long stays.....I made the point at the outset on my first day at Somerset Park motel that Sureeporn was not a “Lady” she was my wife...

After the embassy Thai CC trip we returned to the Motel and much to my pleasure I saw they were all Wai ing Sureeporn and showing great respect. I also could see that she appreciated this. We chatted with the lady at the tour desk and she asked S what we had planned and did we want to see some of BKK.

I have to say here that S was given first class treatment and from about that time onwards we could not get into or out of the foyer without every one fawning over her and asking what we did and where we went and making jokes and she was getting more attention than me by the time we left.. Warmed my heart to see her treated so well and I am sure it was really appreciated by S. She was just so happy and she showed it to me....

BTW I had been down and asked to see the manager at about 11:00. I explained to him why I stayed here (Close to embassy and Thai CC) and what business I was doing. I also explained that I was more than happy and would recommend the Hotel on Thai Dreaming..

I showed him Thai Dreaming website on his PC and suggested perhaps he could talk with Wabbits and offer discount to TD Members. Wabbs his English name is Mark!!!!

I know we are all on budgets but to arrive in BKK and have everything laid on including the doorman who will do your shopping for you, our own laundry etc.... Well a suite with own kitchen, real sized fridge, Laundry, Indoor pool, free buffet breakfast... 80 to 100 baht for taxi to Bar 4. I think S paid 200 baht for taxi to Swampy (Might have been 400). All for $50 Aud... I thought that was pretty dam good for a bit of luxury for us both to enjoy....

As I said though this is my first trip to BKK so I have absolutely no doubt there are even cheaper options with close to the facilities and standard of our experience...

This was a studio Apartment on the 10th floor. I will find the managers card and edit post his details shortly....

We settled on this one and moved in last night. A bit away from everything but as I am working a bit of space between me and the nightlife is a good thing!!!

Decided on the one bedroom as it is very spacious. 18k baht for the month.

Looks cozy, Nomad. Much better then you would get for that price back home. Just curious, why did you choose Bangkok?

Here for 5 weeks, and a few things:
    - proximity to where TG resides and her daughter goes to school
    - have a conference and probably a couple of meetings in BKK
    - likely to be in KL and/or Singapore later this month overnight, so easy to get in and out of
    - don't expect I could live in BKK so thought it would be good to try briefly to see if it changed my mind

Had a funny experience in the price discussion. I booked starting 30 Sep, thus was going to pay 30 sep to 29 Oct being one month, then 30 Oct and 31 oct plus days in Nov.

However when discussing collecting the key as we weren't getting in until 1am on 1 Oct, one month is now till end of October, so saved 2 days rental by checking in after midnight!!!

I have to check but the monthly rate was ridculously low where i stayed.. Great thread BTW... As i said This was my first BKK visit... My Udon suite was even bigger and better and cheaper. So KRob yes maybe I was ripped off, but you cant get a bloody caravan for that money in OZ in the country let alone the likes of Perth Sydney or Melbourne...

Not HiSo here and yes on a budget, but stayed in Cabin in Na Klang for 400 Baht per night with sit down toilet HOT Shower cable TV and AIR CONDTIONING........
