Malindo Air - Perth to BKK

Anyone used the new air line Malindo Air?

Perth to BKK $560 including meals, entertainment and 30kg baggage.

It would be a whole lot cheaper without their baggage charges. Last I saw that was about $438 of the total fare (15-20KGS).
That's almost another seat for my suitcase...555

    Flight Summary

Base Fare AUD1,097.00 Total Tax AUD155.00 Seat AUD54.20 Baggage AUD437.63

D'oh! My Perth Bangkok flights are already booked for next year. Will try them next if prices are still good by then.

Just saw them at Don Muang, looks like they fly 737-900ER, maybe other Aircraft. They have a Thai Lion logo and on the side says they are part of Lion Group.

Yeah, I get that, but are you saying they have a different rate for checked bags?

Lion owns 49%, Malaysian aerospace and defence 51%. B737's and ATR's, all fairly young.
    Cheers, Rob.

I went through their booking process to have a look. Seems they don't allow you to drop the included checked in luggage allowance if you don't want it. I never take anything big with me so I'm not sure what the rates usually are, but prices for any extra bags on top of that seem a bit steep.

Im understanding it as the price quoted on the website is the flight including the luggage if you want it or not. The pic you posted is if you need more than the 30kg allowance.

If your travelling with a western girl you will need the extra luggage. 555

And it'll cost you about 600 bucks to smuggle in a TG.

@#13 I guess you are correct in assuming they give you 30KG free. There is a line that says "want more than 30KG checked baggage".
First time iv'e seen anyone offering to carry more even if it is a bit pricey. (Just don't tell the mrs...)

Usually airlines set off my "Stingy-Ometer" with their add ons every leg of the trip...555

That sounds cheap. You guys on the west coast get great fares...well your already 1/2 way there

For our BM's on Sydney flights, Emirates have a sale on SYD to BKK return for $800 book before 28th and fly in Feb or March if I remember correctly.

I went Perth to Krabi two weeks ago with AirAsia for $437 Aud return. Carry on luggage only and standard seat selection. No additional luggage as I travel light these days. So far this year I have travelled Scoot, Jetstar, AirAsia x 3 and Thai. One trip Thai were the cheapest of all the airlines. So you really do have to check out all options. At the moment Malindo look a little on the expensive side. My last trip of the year on the 24th December is business class (using points with Singapore Airlines) Perth to Chiang Mai then coming back AirAsia.

Point is, the deals vary from trip to trip and sometimes Thai Airways can be the same or similar to some of the Low cost carriers.

True, I have been with Thai air ex Perth a few trips especially if im taking my mountain bike as the 30kg luggage is included. Last Thai air flight was $730 return and the fastest option to Chiang mai.

I just had a look at their flights for Feb 2016 and they fly Per to BKK via Kuala Lumpar with lay over times on most of the flights between 8-13 hours. There is one return flight that has a 1hr55 layover but the rest are as I have previously said. Price come up about $560.00 return, but the layover times would put me off.

Air Asia is similar price but with just under 2hr and just under 3hr layovers on either leg, they would be my choice
