    Krabi Ao Nang Travel Advice

    Hi All

Looking for suggestions for airport transfers from Karbi airport to Ao Nang and accommodation suggestions. Heard the taxis can be difficult and have a monopoly like Phuket. Worse case I will just hire a car.

Sorry if already posted I couldn't find anything.

    Thanks

Hire a car but parking can be a pain. If you want a cheap Hotei, Ao Nang Palace, close to Ao Beach and tourist centre. If you book, get a mountain view room. Most sight seeing is a drive away, so worth having your own transport.
Things to do in order, Railay Beach, Tiger Cave Temple, Emerald Pool and Hot Springs nearby.

I'm planning on Krabi 3rd week in January. Hope to do a couple dives. And get some nice beach time in. I'm drawn to the limestone cliff islands. What do you like about Krabi?
I just girl in bar. Buy me one dink?....

I’m going around the same time, bit later - 27th.

For me the scenery is breathtaking. It’s also a bit more laid back than Phuket. I love driving around and finding small local markets.

Have you looked at doing the trek up Hang Nak hill? I’m very tempted but that overhang looks dangerous.

^That's an amazing view. I've been doing a lot of hiking this fall. And will need to get some real exercise in LOS. How long is the hike?

    You stay in Ao Nang?

It's not in Krabi. North of Patong not too long.

Yep staying in Ao Nang. Although Ao Nang beach isn’t great, it’s a great base to reach other islands or things on the mainland.

Couple of hours allegedly. More info in the link below.

Kao Sok is great but it needs a few days there to get into it...plenty to see and do and some lovely bungalows built out over the lake....best done with a gal whose company you enjoy

The lake, Cheow Lan Lake is man made..the area was flooded to form it...so underneath it you can see the grasses and trees still alive at some points...it's kinda weird but FAB at the same time..it's great for swimming, boating and canoeing...I had a platform on my balcony to jump into the water from on my last visit...well worth seeking out bungalows like this...

Very close to Ao Nang is also Railay Beach.
This place is legendary amongst climbers and better off travellers.
Oustanding beach and towering scenery and only 15 mins long tail from AN.
It can be done but I wouldnt plan to stay there and party of a night at AN.
I would just spend a couple of quiet nights on Railay.

Something like this may suit Jonty ...

In A.N. I really like the Peace Laguna. Walking distance to all Ao Nang villiage.

The same company also owns The Verandah on the cnr of the same Soi and its very good but more guesthousey ...PLUS guests can use the pool and facilities just 100 metres down the ( private ) Soi at Peace Laguna but for a fraction of the room rate ...

Ao Nang is a cute villiage with far more appeal than Patong , but much smaller and with an inferior ( tidal ) beach.
Very good Indian food to be had also.

But theres a host of islands just off shore to explore.

Of course the beach at Railay is popular with day visitors and some resorts charge a day fee to use their pool , amenities etc..

For the most part it’s slim pickins, but there is usually 1 or 2 gems to be found. There’s also a few agogos/bars in the Centre Point complex which are worth checking out. When I was there last time though all the clientele seemed to be Chinese Malay. Centre point is around a 5 min walk from the beer bar complex (soi RCA I think).

    He's very picky these days...555

But truly...the P4P area in AN is pretty small and pretty laid back...the main area is about the size of the Boxing Bar area in lamai.....maybe 12-15 bars....and its a lot less raunchy

I think I've always ended up with very pretty BG's.....by most standard
And I've always been able to find one or two BG's that I like in most places in Thailand......even smaller p4p scenes

I remember there were a cluster of beer bars right on the beach in a small complex at one end of Ao Nang

Ao and I really liked it

I think Centre Point might be new?

We went to the main Soi for beer bars up from the main road
Also had a lot of fun
