It's on my list, but lots of Aussie expats have been jumping ship in the last few years. It's all USD there as you know, and they lose 30 cents out of every dollar now, so places like Bali are looking more attractive now despite Cambs being pretty cheap already.
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

October is the tail end of the wet season so it's a bit of a lottery on that front...the rain can be very heavy and the city can flood in no time...so my advice is push that a month further out to NOV/DEC if you can

I love the joint and visit quite often...there is a good "hostess" bar scene happening in a few different spots....street 130/136, street 104 and around the corner of streets 174 and 51...

a lot of gals get down to the Soraya Mall later at night..just smile at the ones you like and you will soon have company, plus there are a few clubs like Heart of Darkness/Naga at the Casino/Pontoon..but I am guessing these won't be your "scene" Khun Gottsy

The food is great in PP and largely influenced by the French Colonialists..great coffee, bread, croissants and cafes abound...take a walk down the Riverside (Sissowath) Quay and take a look...its very lively down there just on dusk with loads of locals having a picnic on the grass, taking a "passagio" or playing sports along there...on the opposite side of the Quay the cafes and bars have loads of expat punters in them spilling out onto the tables and chairs on the sidewalks...it has a nice and and relaxing pace to it....something I really enjoy for a city that has much to offer..and the people are every bit as friendly as the Thais in my experience

$AUS is 78 cents today...that goes a long way in Cambo if you aren't crazy...you can get beers for 50 cents down along the Riverside Quay and eat for just a couple of $$ if you want....a BF is $7-10 and the gals usually ask for $25-$30 up for the night...decent accommodation can be had in the $25-$50 range....$25 a nice boutique guest house and $50 a 3-4 star hotel with a pool etc...its way cheaper than where I live (Samui)

Jeeze...I think I am talking myself into another visit here soon...555

Cheers bacwaan. I'll probably integrate my PP trip in after Songkran next April. Ive realy had enough of Pattaya now. And Bacon, sorry but Bali hasnt been my scene since the early 80's. It used to be a paradise with one or two beer bars, then it became too popular. Bali became to Oz what Marbella and Ibiza became to Brits. Ive also never been that attracted to the Balinese type of women. I find their beady eyes a bit too offputting. I'm tempted to try and go back to Hainan Island but its become very militarised now. It used to be great, very very few Europeans but my last trup several years back saw a lot of Military there.
    Such is life I suppose.
