Did Jetstar put their foot in it?

When I check my bookings on the Jetstar website I am currently greeted with an invite to join Club Jetstar - each time I see it I wonder if the marketing department is being a little culturally insensitive .... I doubt it is an advertising campaign aimed at Thais anyway but ..... well, can you see my point?

    Enjoy...

I think Minder is probably being playful here(correct me if not), but you can't expect them to research every single cultural quirk and sensitivity.

And part of being a semi-intelligent mammal means being smart enough to realise that not everyone may be familiar with every aspect of every culture, and so they don't mean anything by a pic like that. And that should be enough for a Thai to overlook the innocent picture. It's actually pretty delightful. A couple of kids kicking back and laughing, which probably warmed some marketing clerk's heart and ended up being on the website. So any Thai who doesn't think of these points, and still chooses to take offence(yes it's a choice) can fuck right off!

I somehow doubt most would take offence though. They're too mellow to give a fuck most of the time. Thai's are like the Aussies of Asia. She be right mate. Pass the beer!

Do you have to be so analytically correct?

I don't like the ad-pic and my wife would see it as offensive, but its way better than MAS has done recently.

I bet I sounded like marc just then. 555

But this is a pet peeve of mine. Not being offended is not a right. Otherwise where does this crap end?

    Thanks, did my job
You know how many things my wife and her Thai friends do that we could take as offensive? Nothing egregious, but there are plenty
And to be honest, most of their faux pas s/b common sense so i'd consider it worse manners,( excluding non Thais in convos is a big one that they all do)
But as you said, too many worry about being offended

Pretty simple. Only Thais are offended by people showing the soles of their feet to them in a commercial sense. Why should Euro, American types be offended? But hey, that was never the point was it?

There was a movie poster I saw the other day where a guy was sat on top of the head of a buddha statue. I'm sure that was probably more offensive.
