Not just in Asia, look at that Italian guy that tried driving a ship around corners like a motor bike.

Especially wooden ones with questionable maintenance records.

The old wooden ships employ dry exhaust systems and scorching of surrounding deckheads between engine manifold and risers can be common in poorly maintained engine-rooms. Heavy pipes sag with vibration and weight + hot spots develop in the bends and can burn thru asbestos wrapping.

I inspected the engine-room on our AU CO steel ship and it was immaculate... that company prides itself on compliance with safety and environmental rules.

"{the passenger} said he had now learned there were three similar fires on board the ill-fated vessel in the past year, one as recent as Christmas Day."

I don't think the old girl is coming back from this one.
Amazing how people stand there gawking. At the five minute mark "Bright spark" thinks it might be an idea to move further away...

So turns out they don't handle quite as well as a Ducati. Well now he knows.
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.
