I dislike the nitty gritty talk as well. I prefer to keep the language subtle. Venue and entertainment talk is fun, but Cretans talking about the price of fish from Thailand to Timbuktu is just cringe.

I do like to keep track of what bars are doing what, what's happening where and how the landscape is shifting and in what direction. Which group of bar owners are rising, who's been run out of town, who's dead, who's new, etc etc. It's the grand Pattaya soapie. Been following it for years and love it.

My wife's sister is a director of a porn movie group, she had a fall out with her dad over it and they haven't talked for several years. Her Mum doesn't give a shit nor do we, it's a professional job.
