Another mouth to feed

My MIL takes care of babies a lot
Usually from the time they are born until they go to school full time

She does it as a business for non-family
And has done it for her grandchildren because the brothers and their gf's work
Not all, depending on the situation

Well she took of her granddaughter, Fy, from birth to 3-4yrs old

Her brother had 4 kids with his gf, 3 younger boys after Fy

The brother and gf broke up and the gf was telling Ao the brother wasn't helping

Anyways Ao was driving down the street 2 days ago and saw Fy(she's 8yrs old now) walking on the road.
She pulled over and found out the her mom fcuked off with a new bf 2 months ago and left the 4 kids with her mom

Ao went and talked to the grandmother and found Ao the gf been lying, the brother has been sending money
But still not enough for the 4 kids

So it was decided Ao and her mom would take Fy

I just thought this convo was quick and decisive after 2 days......

Me "Is Fy sleep your house tonight "
Ao "Yes"
Ao 'She will be here forever "

Ok then, that's decided 😀

This is Fy

She's 8yrs old and yes, looks like she's a 35yr old teacher 5555

She's cross-eyed
She's always had glasses since a baby

Maybe we will work on getting her cooler glasses 😀1611769031974.jpg

Yeah I guess she just got those glasses

But I guess will look into if anything further can be done
After your post I looked quick and you can have surgery for it
Yeah, depends on the problem, but what I saw in the picture made me think that this is correctable..
Quick and simple procedure if it can be done..

Quite honestly I wouldn't even thought of correction beyond the glasses

I looked at pricing and they had around 45k baht on medical tourism websites
So a good Thai place would be half of that

Don't thank me!

Thank you if you cough up the cost for the op and change the future of that young girl forever!

Well that's for sure, but wouldn't have thought of it
So still, thanks

Speaking of forever ......
This was the whole conversation with Ao
That was it, no discussion beforehand
She used to ask if she could take something from the minibar 555
Now I am just informed she picked up a kid 😀

Me-Fye sleep your house?
Ao-Yes
Ao-She will be here forever.
Me-So I guess we pay for school now 😃
Me-I don't care.....
Ao-Yup. 50฿ a day
Ao-Pay for school about 4000-5000.
Me-Well if we have her forever Then maybe think about good school
Me-Can talk after.....
Ao-This one good school
Ao-I’m happy when she Smile and laugh 😀

Its beyond me how a mother can dump her kids like that and nic off with a guy.

Its a bit different if the mother is working and the kid is with family but forever? that's the worse parenting. Cannot be good for the kids well being in years to come.

I agree about the mom, of course

But kids are resilient, as long as they are brought in a stable home I think they end up fine or better off
It's when kids are left behind in bad situations

Now this will be mostly my MIL raising her with our support

So will be interesting to see how my MIL is with a girl with how she was with Nut

I think she will not be as strict
She's always worried that the Thai boy will turn bad....

I commend you for your support to her, you always do this.

Kids are resilient true and the kid has a good opportunity with your financial support and I'm sure with MIL upbringing.

But I feel the kid will have issues later in life, almost all adopted kids do.

I am adopted. I had a great up bringing, poor in western standards but lots of love and support. However that feeling of abandonment, rejection, fear of failing, never goes away. Its common with adopted kids although these days I don't have the issues.

My adopted sister and brothers on the other hand are pritty f#cked up, and almost anyone I have met that are adopted or from foster care have a few issues.

Maybe Thai's are different.

Cute kid

Yeah I am aware you are adopted and was definitely taking that into account with your opinion

You certainly have more knowledge about it than I do

The mom is young
Plenty of time for her to do the right thing......
Hopefully

On another note, how will the MIL go if the mother comes back in say 5 years to collect the kid? How will you and Ao go?

That would be hard I would imagine.

Has she had to do this before.

Well most of the babies/kids my MIL takes care of are a business
Ao and my MIL absolutely adore them
But they always know they have good parents, just the parents need to work

Or they were grandkids that were old enough to go to school full time

Only one of the non-family kids was in a situation where we thought they may need to keep her full time
Soda.....God I loved that one 😀
The mom got better but is so-so now
But it's her Mom, so they are there if needed but don't overstep the boundaries

As for in 5 years
Who knows.....
Cross that bridge when it comes
The mom always has the right to be with their kids

We just helping......

This is the little fella my MIL has taken care of for the last 3 or 4 years

We call him "old man" because when he was young his hair looked like he was a 70yr old man 5555

His mom and dad have good middle class jobs
They drop him off at 6am and pick him up 7pm 6 days per week

He likes French fries and Ao's boobs 😋
