Agreed , if you have holiday entitlement you need to take it before the end of the holiday year , although I know our American friends are famed for not taking long holidays and sometimes forgoing their allotted holidays ( not sure that applies to M26 or half day Paulie as he is also known .... ;) )
I ain't ever left an hour on the table 5555

But you are correct
The common misconception is Americans don't get as much holiday time as others
They do.....but they are definitely discouraged from taking it all at once
Before it was the norm to take just one week at a time but now it's very normal to take 2week holidays

In Canada we are basically the same as Europe
In fact I call my #1 guy Mr Europe because he doesn't work in Auguest 5555

I thought Americans only get 10 days paid leave per year? But you get more days depending how long you have been at a company?

Most low-entry/1st jobs give you 2 weeks to start(10 days) but people usually have about 4 weeks vacation plus sick days

And once you have been in the business you usually will get 3/4 weeks when you switch firms and start a new job

But it's very looked down on to take a vacation within 6mos of starting a job
