I'm in Buriram, also known as deepest darkest Isaan for the next two weeks if anyone wants to chat in between "Rainshowers"...
Lots of lovely cold beers in the airconditioned "Panda Enclosure" today...:)

Yup.

Decent game of football (nice stadium/atmosphere). Had 3 days there in April and that was enough.

Many say Buriram has the most beautiful women in Thailand and I can't argue with that given my profile picture. 555

We had a seven hour trip from Swampy as the traffic was horrendous. They are building a huge flyover style motorway northward and in typical Thailand fashion have started the whole thing at once and just ploughed through all the existing infrastructure. Now it will likely take years to finish causing untold traffic disruption.

Enjoy your stay! Take some photos from around town for us if you can.
Will do. but it's a tough gig lately...and i haven't checked if photobucket is still available. Ours will most likely be more like "Happy snaps" than full HD videos...555

^ Do you use Tapatalk? It has it's own uploading service. You just select a photo from your phone and it automatically uploads and inserts it in image tags. I love it.

I was actually just going to ask that.
What your travel is to Issan

I'm lucky, my wife lives about 20mins from airport.
And her village(which not many there any more) is less than 2 hours away from BKK

And do you spend time in BKK before you head to Issan?

five and a half inc stops last time had a good run traffic heavy at times but flowing only really thinning once we were at the turn off to Nakon Ratchacima but depends what time you move past that heavy Saraburi traffic.
There are a couple of non freeway roads that run north from Swampy and rejoin the mainroad a little south of Saraburi that work quite well but speed will be closer to 100kph than the usual 130 on the freeway....Less heavy braking.55555

I think you spend sometime in BKK though on your trips, no?

I could never get off a long flight and hop in the car for a long drive like that

Hell, I don't even like being met at the airport
I like to get a taxi, get to hotel and unwind.
I don't mind if Ao is in Thailand and she checks in to the hotel before me.
Even then she gives me a bit of space and we just chat a bit

I remember when she'd want to do the TG thing and meet me at the airport.
I had to explain to her the only person I liked meeting me at the airport was my mom, always happy to see my mom :)

If we get off the plane late arvo we grab the hire car and drive to Saraburi 1 to 2 hours depending on airport and generally a Saturday so traffic is ok.
If Early I will drive through remember it's no such a big flight and I sleep on the plane. We will stop for lunch though.

Well i'm a bit bone headed about that, but after a couple of gruelling road trips after a longish plane trip, i'm learning that I should stay in BKK at least overnight.
Aside from that, after all the village pleasantries are over, we will head into BKK for a couple of nights, and visit of few well lit nightspots before heading home on the midnight flight.

I was thinking about exactly that last night, you like me however, travel with female company and if you take out all the "Ladystops" you would cut the travel time by at least an hour, but who wants to risk that....555
