We're not judging dupes, I'm actually jealous. A few years ago I was with a buddy in cancun and one night I lost my shit (mind) and no one had a wheel chair handy...he managed me back to my room. I'm forever greatful. A few nights later I returned the favor after he puked up HARD at a nice resturant in downtown cancun...good times 555

He's not explaining the whole thing and since he already told you
I will elaborate

Yeah this is the 2nd time this has happened on vacation with this mutt!
It seriously looks like he is dying and then the next day ge is fine
(Although I don't think so even though he does bounce back incredibly well)

Anyways he made a mess of fucking Hooters!
The security staff at the complex were awesome and really provided great care for Dopey

They eventually wheeled him out of Hooters through the shopping mall
All the people were stopped looking wondering what happened
I just kept walking behind the wheelchair saying "Bad Shrimp" 5555

The wheelchair wasn't exactly new so one leg was dragging and there were a lot of little bridges
So one lady is pushing, a young kid is holding up the leg and I jump in pushing up the bridges!

Get him in a taxi

At this point I am just tipping eveyeone that helped him
The Hooters manager for the mess Dopey made
The lady who helped him medically
The young kid who wheeled him through the mall
The taxi driver for actually letting us in his taxi!

Then the security at the hotel
He wheeled him to our room and Dupree is like "Get me a bucket" and yaks all in it
The guy's face was "I don't get paid enough for this"
So another tip!

Dupree was a bit surprised when I presented him with a bill the next day to pay me back for all the people I tipped 5555

And yes no more drugs for Grandpa when he is on holiday with me
Fool me twice shame on me!
Alcohol only for now on for Gramps!

Dupree also neglected to inform you I was a great friend
And took off his shoes and got him a cold cloth for his head

Then I went back out.....thinking it's gonna be a pain in my ass of this dude is dead in Mexico when I get back to the room 5555
Hilarious ....

I expect he will post a major rant about how lowly wait staff got hold of his easy wages... 555

It's not that bad. The Hotel pool on the beach is awesome. The water's turquoise. The temperature is perfect. Plenty of young bikinis frolicking. Pina Coladas are refreshing. I got an awesome tan. The breakfast and lunch buffet is really good. It's just the dinners that miss. And I got my dosage right now..55

Good. Well I’m glad it wasn’t all bad. I can relate to the food experience of AI hotels. I’ve stayed in a few in Mexico and I found the food in the main daily buffet, breakfast and dinner restaurant was fine. Always plenty of choice and good quality. It was in their smaller foreign cuisine restaurants, that you had to book, where I always left disappointed.

After reading these funny stories it makes me glad that I seldom drink more than 2 beer anywhere. And, I never take drugs unless prescribed by a doctor... except for the occasional time I've just bought them from in a Thai pharmacy for road rash after mishaps on my motorbike.

I forgot one other tidbit
As they are getting Dopey to get straightened out the manager of Hooters is standing next to me but blocking my view of the basketball game on TV
He notices I am trying to look around him while they are putting smelling salts on Dopey

I say" yeah I have 300 on the Raptors" 5555..

Which I lost and fully blame Dopey
They were up big before his little fiasco
Should have added that to his bill 555

OK Girls. Get over it. New pills need trial and error to get the dosage right...55 But I am grateful Uncle Paulie got me home safe. Even if it supposedly cost me $100..hmm*

Sunday. After recovering on the beach with a prescription of more Pina Coladas. We planned to visit Mercado 28, The Cancun market. We took the Hotel Zone local bus R1 for 14 pesos. We got off the bus at a market area. But realized with Google maps that we were still a couple blocks from Mercado 28. Even though we got off at Market 28. You see. Those crafty Mexicans created a fake Mercado 28 to fool us gringos. It was called Market 28. Loco..55 It was really quiet with no other tourists around. We walked by the pain in the ass hawkers trying to get us to buy their crappy made in china mexico souvenirs. I just walked by them. But Paulie must have had his radar off. The hawkers got him to stop and listen to their crap. Eventually a hawker latched onto him and escorted us to the real Mercado 28 and tried to hand us off to another hawker. This market was dead too. We really only wanted some tacos anyways. So we found the food court. And that's when the crazy started. It was similar to Patong where you walk through that area of restaurants behind old Tiger. But more intense. All the restaurants are shoving their menus in our faces trying to get us to sit in their place. It didn't get to me so much. I think I was still mellow from the residual Tramadol from last night...55 But Uncle Paulie was losing it big time. It looked like he was having a major melt down. I envisioned the hawkers were prehistoric vultures pecking at Hercules's head in an old Greek mythology movie...55 We settled toward a nice restaurant with music and walked in. The waiters came at us with rapid speed trying to guide us into a table. While still standing I asked one waiter if they had tacos. He's pointing at the menu items saying tortas! quesdiilas! burritos!...but no tacos. I looked over at Paulie and he was ready to explode. He was ready for a straight jacket....555 Finally he said lets get the fuck outta here! We grabbed a cab and found a nice little taco place near our hotel. Things calmed down after that. We visited a couple of sister RIU Hotels and called it a night. Tomorrow we go to Isla Mujers. The Island of Women...$#%

Looks lovely.. but I don't know what it is about beaches where the sea has no waves... feels like something fundamental is missing... I need to hear the crashing of waves when at the seaside.. or it may as well be a pond...

Cancun has a decent wave

But I agree
Holbox looks incredible but it's like glass
Actually kind of cool to swim in and hang out in

But now in Tulum with a nice strong surf and feels like a real beach

In the video , the sand looks depleted nowadays , when the beaches were almost mini-sand dunes once.

When will engineers learn to build back further from the high tide line ...

It was an incredibly pretty place years back. There was only 2 Hotel towers being built on the 'Zona Touristico' then , and we parked our 'Camione' truck next to some security guys office , where there were toilets and running water and stayed free in return for sharing a few Tecates with them.
Nice old family men.
They caught plenty of fish as well.
You could body surf there !

Aquamarine waves to body surf and cheap.

You know if you get that real wrong it'll start to effect both ends. How good a mate is Uncle Paulie? 55

Firmly agree Bacon. Im not sure Dupes is to be trusted to holiday alone any more , and we all should be urging &g him to take Paulie along as a kind and caring companion for any future small vacations..

If you analyzed the situations more deeply. You'd see that Uncle Paulie's actions are an indirect cause to both of them. He brought the implements of destruction into both cases. So the safe bet would be to stay away from him. But he knows how to have fun. His ADD keeps him on level 10. I just have to learn to stay within my own limits. But sometimes I don't know what they are until it's too late. It's only happened twice out of many nights out. I'll be better next time. I promise...:eek:ndrugs:

On Monday we went Isla Mujeres. Caught the 9am ferry over to the island. 30 min ride. They had a musician entertaining us both ways. When we landed we headed over to the moped rental. 450 pesos for the day. $25 US. We just drove around the island stopping at view points.

Length: 7 km (4.3 mi)
Width: 0.65 km (0.404 mi)
Adjacent bodies of water: Gulf of Mexico, Carib...

Laid back island. With affordable trendy restaurants. But plenty of taco trucks and street vendors too. We parked are scoots and headed to the shopping area. Had a good breakfast. Then back to where we parked the bikes and found a vacant set of chairs and umbrella. Pretty much the same set up as Patong. People coming buy offering food and souvenirs. But not as non stop as Patong. Pina Coladas were going down nice. After a couple hours we took off to find a Beach Club.

The Beach Club was a nice restaurant on the beach. We sat near the stone pools and ordered some high end and delicious apps. Beef carpaccio and tuna tartare. it was getting close to 5pm so we headed back to catch the ferry. I would like to spend a few days here next time.

Oh yeah
That beach Playa Norte was very nice
I forgot about that
Those Pina Coladas were probably best of the trip

Funny in very expensive Tulum you can rock up to most places and use their beds if you are buying drinks
Don't charge for the beds
