Obviously KR would have the most to say about this

My stepson has his Monk ceremony/party next year

Looks like a few of my nephews and maybe thier GF's would be coming

So looking at houses/villas

I was shocked at how many places on Airbnb are listed by the Chinese

I guess I shouldn't be but I'd say it's over 50% of the rentals

Chiang Mai is very popular with Chinese for permanent residence and investment. Our mooban attracts many due to the green landscape, lakes and easy access to cbd, airport and shops.

AirBNB properties range from townhouses to large homes with pool .... many are simply built side-by-side now, townhouse style but on a single large plot with an air gap between the buildings.

There are gated "moobans" all around Chiang Mai, from a few kilometers out of town to more than 20 km away. The area that I stay at is owned by a wealthy Chinese Thai. There does not seem to be any sort of standard. One hotel will charge 2000+ baht a night and somewhere nearby will be charging 600 baht. But, that seems to be standard all over Thailand.

Whenever I opt to rent a villa/house over a hotel I always go for space and greenery

If I am giving up the convenience of a hotel I want space and a bit more serene

This place looks amazing

That place looks ok. Is it close to where you need to be as it's tucked away, need to have own transport or call taxi/minibus. Only 5 mins from us as it happens.
I always rent transport when I rent a house
But taxi for going out

But that is just a thought

I was really just commenting on all the Chinese rentals
Maybe I'm racist but I'd rather rent from a Thai or Farang
