Getting Married in Thailand

Not sure we'll find out tomorrow or Tuesday.
Nope, all in Thai.
Went to the 1st translation service closest to the NZ Embassy. 6k later ffs. Cheaper options available no doubt but we wanted to get it done ASAP.
Travelled back to Kaset and all the docs with translation, certification etc arrived a week later.
Off to the Amphur Office to do the registration.
3 visits and 5 days it's legal.

Why do you mean 3 visits and 5 days it's legal?

I got married on a Tuesday
My wife got in a taxi and drove 3 hours the next day/6hrs to return and changed her ID to my last name

I laid in bed severely hungover 5555

Why do you mean 3 visits and 5 days it's legal? -- Kaset Sombun office. The lady who handled our registration etc was great, good English language ability and friendly. We had to return the following day as the 'Big Boss' was on annual leave.
Not an issue really as Fah Cafe' is on the way, which is something quite extraordinary in itself being i deepest Isaan.
Google Maps link, if any of you are out that way. The best coffee outside of the main centers I've had. There cakes etc are pretty good as well. Highly recommend their Orange cake - superb.

Au changed her family name to mine at the same time.

I returned to NZ without Au and Phaeya as the MIL is quite frail. They are staying on until November when I return and they will come back with me.

A big issue we have is with Phaeya's passport update. With all that went on we forgot to change her family name and update her passport. We are now trying to do this with me in NZ and them in Thailand. I'm not sure it can be done. Although I have had assistance from the Thai Embassy here which is in Wellington, they are typically quite vague with communicating what I need to provide to enable the change.

Passports, wrong documents, dual citizenship and name changes have been a massive issue for us.

Hope you get it sorted.

I'm wondering if getting Phaeya a NZ passport in her original name would be a solution. But, knowing Thailand, they may still refuse to let her leave.

I just submitted our last documents yesterday for our PR application

I still think the lawyer is overplayed and probably could have done it myself

But am also glad I ma having them do it

Man it was a lot of documents!

I'm unsure on Thais

In my exp what ever is on the birth certificate as long as the birth certificate is not fraudulent and you can always get a true copy........55
