It's a long way from Chiang Mai to Perth

I agree, but only if they follow the laws of the land. Unfortunately, Canada has been too generous in the past and people have taken advantage of Canada's generosity. I would have set a 10 year "waiting-training process" in place before being allowed a citizenship. Then, if a potential immigrant screwed up then the whole family would be sent back to where they came from. Give them all the rights and privileges except citizenship. They should have to earn that right.

I've got good friends from all ethnic groups and races. They are all nice, hard working people. But, I've seen far too many who have screwed up and continue to screw the system.

I agree with you 100%

If you want to become a citizen, 10years is not a long time and it shows a commitment

You've often complained about them not letting in Thai girls but I've seen them be some of the worse offenders of overstaying and getting their passport and leaving Canada within a few weeks after

I just don't think you have a connection with a country in 4-5yrs to be a citizen

Does that have something to do with Hong-Kong?

As I understood Canada was the life-line for many Hong-Kong citizens before the handing over to China.. Much money involved as well..

Before they were basically allowed to buy a passport(and probably still can)

I don't know if that policy lowered the # of years though

Money ALWAYS seems to change the parameters in business deals. Canadian politicians are just as susceptible to bribes as anyone else. They just have a better way of hiding it... like "political donations" for example... three for me and one for you.

You've done a good job of digging up old posts and renewing an interest in them. Like you I sometimes wonder what happened to the originators of topics and are then no longer heard from.

Yes, I've been feeling guilty about my half finished story. I've been going along ok but still experience chest (muscular) pain no doubt exacerbated by my dodgy left shoulder. It's about 1 year since my surgery and when I look back I reaslise how crook I was.

Backto "Its a long road.......

After submitting our prospective marriage visa application in June 2015 it was 11months before the Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300) was granted. Anne had to sell up her worldly possesions except for her 1991 Nissan Sunny which she left with her brother and we still use when we go back.

Her visa stipulated that she and the kids had to arrive in Australia by June the 20th and i flew up to meet her and the kids in Kuala Lumpur, then flew into Sydney arriving on the 19th June.

After a day in Sydney visiting my mum we headed down to the snowfields just over 400k from Sydney. We arrived late afternoon into Cooma, checked into our hotel and headed for the snow about another 90k. It turned out perfectly. As we arrived in Perisher there was a light covering but it started to snow as we drove into the carpark.. Anne and the kids were beside themselves, they had never seen real snow before. We headed back the next day to the snow again. They must have spent most of the day taking selfies and pictures to send to friends and family on facebook.

After a few days in Sydney doing touristy things and visited mum again. Anne had knitted her a scarf in the colours of mums favourite football team, South Sydney and gave it too her on our last day

We returned to Perth on the 24 June, my birthday and started our new life in Western Australia.

SCHOOLING
Our priority was to get the kids settled into school as quickly as possible. They both had to go to schools that provided intensive english programs but our daughter had to go to a Senior Highschool as she was too old for the normal High Schools. Anne insisted on driving them to school but after two weeks they both wanted to get the combination of bus/train/bus. They were certainly more adventurous than Anne..

To be continued......Thanks for prodding me Cobba

Thanks Marctwosix. I often joke with her about is her beautiful "sister" coming tonight? Or is normal Anne coming?. She is not your classic Thai looking girl. She says she has Chinese eyes and she looked beautiful that night. We were at a Ball held at Crown Casino in Perth for St. John of God Hospital staff.

No, neither of us work there. I work for a company selling breathalysers and we had one there for guests to test themselves.
