That's pretty much what most of the other (informed imo) articles said. All rather sad - and it makes the captain a mass murderer.

Yes, but severe mental cases do this all the time... but just not with a large, modern aircraft. That was a LOOONG read, but explained a lot.

Full of conspiracy theories... but all are possible... an interesting watch. What was in the cargo that night?

They explored the captain taking control of oxygen supply and other controls below deck, however couldn't a passenger have done this? If they could supply themselves with oxygen, then they could kill everyone, and then get into the cockpit. Also, I can't recall them talking about the time difference between signing off with KL and sharply changing course. In theory, this is the window of time between seizing control below deck and returning or getting into the cockpit. Anyway, was somewhat interesting yet not compelling.

Did you watch all 3 episodes? They speculated on a passenger (rather than the captain) going below deck and doing all that... to then set a fake course south when in fact they went north... in that scenario.

The Atlantic article I posted in 2019 I think is more thorough than the Netflix show... and it does look more likely that rather than a hijack, the captain had mental health issues which could have precipitated suicide...

But the un-checked electronics cargo (2.5 tonnes) and the sightings in the South China Sea are my only doubt on it being the pilot... did the US shoot it down to stop that cargo getting to China?
