Marriage success rate?

Yesterday(and today) is the Thai festival in Vancouver.

Now being here for 17 years, Ao runs into many girls she knows.

I would say it's rare when they aren't divorced to the Canadian guy they were married to.

Honda I think the success rate for not being divorced is maybe 20%

Ao said on our walk today
Everytime I meet another Thai lady, she divorced
And I just have to say I'm still married

Maybe it's about the money?

What do you mean? I don't understand

But as for money

I'd say the vast majority of Thai girls don't marry rich Canadian guys
Most are middle class to even a bit less off than middle class

And actually
The % of Thais in Vancouver married to a farang would be fairly low

What do you think the high divorce rate is down to? Just not really compatible in the end.. especially culturally... or something else?

Do the girls end up single or with other men?

I'm trying to think of any divorced couples in our group and people we know that are married Aussie / any Asian girl and can only think of one couple.
That couple are Filipino Australian and both the same age, young couple.

I always say to Ao
You never know what goes on in someone's house

We aren't a perfect couple, by any means...

So I don't really know why it doesn't work out for a lot of farang/Thai couples here

Although saw plenty of Luek Krueng kids these last 2 days
So people are making babies 555

I think Thai girls are a lot more volatile than Filipinas

They really can be a handful......

Most married for money and citizenship. That's why.
I don't disagree with that

But honestly, once you are in the relationship
It's a relationship

And I think all the same factors of any relationship come into play

Although on my side
My circle of friends in Boston and NYC seemed to have bucked the trend

I only have 1 close friend that is divorced

Are they wealthy? If not, most realize they can't afford a divorce.

I met my wife when she was 19 and a college student in Bangkok. She's 69 this year and I'm 78 and we still get along great. I'm still working and travel domestically a lot, so maybe that's the secret.
Wow
That's amazing

All of it!
The work, the travel and the relationship!

And yes, I do think both partners being secure and independent do lead to successful marriages

I met my wife when she was 21yrs old and I was 30yrs old

And she was immature (maybe I was too)

We were off/on for 5 years

And I honestly think we were able to settle down once she was secure in own self and became independent
