MIL chronicles

I figure I'd start a thread on my MIL extended stay.......

Seems she is enjoying it but only been a week.

I think she's a bit uncomfortable when it's just me and her in the house. Just because of the language barrier
She will stay in her room most of the time when Ao is at work.....

Yesterday she went to work with Ao for 12 hours
(Think she's angling to work under the table 5555)

Surprised by that, not offended. She always had Nut with her in the past though.....

My wife is gonna go broke buying her stuff.
My wife has plenty of jackets and clothes she can use.
But I guess it's a point of pride....
She now has a gorgeous Columbia full length parka 5555

I think she gets a kick out of watching my wife's and I dynamic
Wife is always cranky and I'm always either trying to make her more cranky or get her out of her cranky funk.....but she's seen that forever with us

She's been a trooper with the cold. She's cold when out but she's handled it well

My wife has slept with her Mom every night she's been here, even when we initially had her in a twin bed

Now, my wife is a princessy as they come

But it must be akin to puppies growing up in a littre
My dog often sleeps up against a chair or table, etc and I read it reminds them when they were sleeping and touching their siblings in the litter

I don't mean that making fun of them
I really think it's like that for them

They usuallu sleep together when just the 3 of us travel because my MIL doesn't want to sleep in her room alone

It's only been 2 weeks but seems my MIL is really enjoying herself here

We've asked her a few times if she is homesick and she answered no quickly

I think part of that is my wife bought the house in Nonthaburi and sort of left her in a place she doesn't know anyone
So she's bored

Yesterday they were at my wife's best friend's house eating Jim Joon for 9 hours!

I can understand that. Same as Au and Phaeya here in NZ at the moment.

MIL has been boozing!

I have seen her drink maybe 10 drinks in the 18 years I've known her

She is having multiple drinks every time she goes out now

Yesterday they went to a friend's house and she had 4 glasses of wine!

How long is she staying.
5 months

I was thinking she may not make it because she'd be too cold but honestly it doesn't seem she is affected one bit by it
At all

She goes out when it's cold
We like to keep the doors and windows open
But have asked if she was ok and she's fine

So think she will stay the full time

After the New Year she may start baking and selling Thai desserts
So if she's making money from that then think she will be very content

Also I do think they are angling for her to work at the restaurant a bit under the table

MIL got a yelling at for her smelly food cooking tonight

It was horrible, to be honest
Just a little stinky but also very oily

Wife came out and gave her a good licking....

She doesn't realize that she's not in Thailand and also in an apartment

Tonight was just a matter of realizing the outdoor doors need to be open and bedroom doors closed if you are deep frying shit

We will get there. 😀

Do you cook smelly stuff on the balcony?

Wife does but so do a fair few in our apartments. Wife goes outside to smell what others are cooking

No
And I really am not too fussed about it, as long as the doors are opened and bedroom closed

I also find the smelly stuff smells bad initially but sort of burns off quick

On a scale of 1-10, I'd say I'm a 5-6 on being able to deal with the smelly cooking

Im building her a outdoor kitchen in the new place. Most the stuff is ok and yeah we close the bedroom door too.

I plan on building a very nice outdoor kitchen when we build in Thailand
That will incorporate mine and Thai cooking
Wok, BBQ grill, maybe a stone oven.....

I'd love them to cook one dish that doesn't stink! 😀

I asked them if they ever just want Pad Thai 555

And my wife has definitely ramped up the stink since her Mom has come.....

Went shopping with just my wife yesterday to buy my MIL her Xmas gift(s)

Definitely some cracks in the armor 5555

My wife has been off work for last 2 weeks so they been together every second
And it's a situation where my wife can't really have any alone time

She was also doing her OCD thing, complaining her Mom doesn't put things where she likes them 5555

Oh and that's she’s spent a ton of money on her

I think she just wanted a moan

I haven't done one dish or a stitch of laundry
So I'm all good 55555
