She has zero situational awareness though 5555

She will walk out and turn on the blender if I am in the middle of a work call....
I find Thais generally have very little forethought or consideration for others.
My pet peeve is when I'm talking to my wife, others will just butt in as if I wasn't there.
I'll often say, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your conversation", but that just flies over their heads.

Yes for sure

And they also don't seem to be too bothered that someone is making noise

I was at a cafe in Krabi with an amateur view
It's a destination that you pay to go up to

And this guy was screaming into his phone on special the whole time

No one batted an eye

The SIL went for a holiday in Vietnam and whilst there phoned her Mother on LINE.
I thought there was a heated argument as the MIL was screaming down the phone.
I asked the wife why was her Mother screaming down the phone.
"Because my sister is far away in Vietnam" came the reply. 😲

Mine is the polar opposite and whilst I like that very unique trait it does have it's moments. And she over analyses minor issues which most people shrug off.

You should read Faz's building a house with Thai "assistance" thread!
I'd be so interested to see how my BIL gets along working with a farang

He's a very talented sort of contractor

He's done big jobs with Ao's business and his own big jobs, last big one is he built a carpark for Toyota

I read about this builder never showing up on time
If we ask my BIL(actually any of the BIL's) to do a job for us, they are at the house or whenever they need to be at 4-5am

I know absolutely nothing when it comes to contractor/construction work

But every thing he's ever done at the houses has never had issues after

He doesn't speak English much

But I'd be really interested if he was up to farang standards

The job he worked at before doing his own thing was he installed and maintenenced big electric openings doors for massive stores like Big C
Traveled all over the country doing that job

Is that his next big contract, working with a farang?

My MIL said her 1st English sentence

"Shut up Paul" 5555

I still haven't sussed out if her daughter taught her or she just picked it up from her daughter saying it!

And she said it with perfect comedic timing. 😀

She hides in her bedroom when my wife is at work
I'm not offended or anything but thought she would be more comfortable with me

But oh well

My wife went out after work

It may be the 1st time she went out without her Mom since she been here

And she said her Mom gave her the silent treatment today

What a child......
The immaturity of some grown Thai adults really bugs the shit out of me

How long is your MIL over for? Must be tough for her... only one person she knows well... and she doesn't really work, so hard to make other friends? I guess she hasn't got other people she can mix with yet independent of Ao?

I would think Ao's Thai friends have parents too. Maybe throw a little welcome to Canada party for her and invite all the parents. 🙂

5 months and she is out more here 10x more than in Thailand

She likes Ao's group of friends

I think she was just being a child and threw a tantrum that Ao went out without her

Ridiculous

Not much to update.....been smooth sailing
I actually enjoy my MIL being here

Not a lot of guys would say that

A couple nuggets

I admonished my wife because she will have her Mom carry a bunch of bags. Like if they go food shopping or I pick them up from work.
I think rural Thais tend to think of the Mom as sort of a workhorse, in a way

I thought my MIL would clean the house a lot more than she does. Not that's she messed at all
She does the dishes all the time and does all our laundry almost daily
Also doesn't bitch that she organizes my closet and I go in and mess it up

But she's not OCD like my wife when it comes to cleaning the actual house

She eats a lot of times but doesn't eat much
My wife says taking her out doesn't make sense because it is like taking a child out.
She eats very little

She is a tropper and will try any food I cook

I didn't snap at my MIL but I sort of snapped at her ridiculousness

As I said before, she is sick or has a different ailment every day

She's always been like that since I met her

But she is a child sometimes

She can't eat spicy food. Hurts her stomach
Has for 10+ years

What does she do? Eat spicy food then complains all day the next day

It's not the case like when I eat crap food or something I know I shouldn't

She walks around the house holding her stomach

3 nights ago our friend made a really spicy Som Tum
Everyone comments how spicy it is

She eats it, I comment she will "hurt stomach tomorrow " and wow....her stomach hurt!

Last night my wife orders spicy wings from Korean place
I said she shouldn't eat those, they will hurt her stomach

Today my wife says
"My mom hurt her stomach so bad, says she wants to go home"

I don't have patience for nonsense
So I definitely firmly said "what would going home do? You know the problem, stop eating spicy food. It's not a mystery "
Happened when we were out last night

The girls ordered a cod fish
She took a teaspoon size piece of fish

My wife asks me to ask for lemons

She says "my mom eat the fish and going to be sick"

I look over and looks like she's dying

Jesus Christ she ate not even a spoonful!

It's like being with a child at times.....
