TBH i had no intention of going there ! At ALL 555.
Was sitting at Beach Bar other end of Patong having a drink with Dao ( ex SBH ) and chatting to 2 guys about 30yo on their 1st trip to Thailand.
1 wanted to go for a proper look at Bangala as his mate and he had just done a slow walk down there and his mate hated it ! Too in his face! Be he (george) wanted to go have a look anyway. Said well im going to Soi Freedom say hello to an old friend (lucy at Little Devils) come if you want. He jumped at the chance .so off we went !
Sitting at a bar in Freedom , he says to me , I dont know what all the fuss is about , these GoGo bars arn't that bad at all ! Hmmm No mate this i just a normal bar , not a go go ! Lucy heard it as well , we looked at eachother and laughed our heads off. He asked whats so funny .
Ok finish your dink ill show you . Walked into Suzy Wongs and 2 seconds in it was OMG ok i get ya now ! and also had a laugh ! This is what i had heard about and looking for !
Sat down for a drink , a lady came over plnked her self down beside me , I said no beside him , his 1st time ! Message received and pounced lol. Told him to buy her a drink and i dont have to say anymore do i ! 555

Thanks for the story, Gaz. I could just visualize it, and it brought back old memories about my introduction to Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza, and Pattaya, 20 years ago. 555
I never got to Phuket for another 5 or 6 years afterwards. But by then I pretty much knew the "scene" and could pick and choose my poison.

It would seem that CR has only increased in popularity. The first 2 or 3 trips back since opening up again I didn't go in as it was busy and I still preferred things a bit quieter. However, I visited on the last 2 trips, and had good nights.
AS feels like stepping back in time, and probably to a time long before my visits.

I went in fairly early, about 8pm. And even then there weren't many seats available. The funny thing us that generally the music they play is not at all up my street. But the vibe of the place makes it enjoyable.
