Recommendations for Visa Agent in Thailand please

Processsing times have been brutal in Canada, they still use Covid as an excuse

Ao waited 13 months for her work permit last time
Now going on 6 months for her new work permit

And she just went for her new 10 year US Visa today. They usually give it to people here in Canada that have status, working or PR

So we were a bit worried she may get refused because she is here on an expired work permit
But I provided many documents from Canada Immigration showing she is still here and allowed to work legally

And Ao said they did ask and look for that..............so worked out
We got approved for our Permanent Residence in Canada
Me, my wife and my stepson in Bangkok

Took 7 months and probably would have been 4 or 5 months because I was arguing that Ao didn't need to retake her Immigration Medical
I'm still right but hard to argue your case so she did take it again

We qualified under the Express Entry program
Either qualified work experience or University degree

Still amazed it was so quick vs a work permit extension

When the PR seems a lot more involved

Oh well
We got it

Happy that Nut has more options now

How is Nut feeling about it
Don't really know.
We got approved but we don't actually get PR for another month or 2

He will actually probably get his PR before us because of all the stupid things we have to do when inside Canada
His is just drop off his photos and passport of at VAC

But we will have a long talk about what he's doing next year when I see him in 2 weeks, that was always the plan

He's got that scholarship offer for his Masters but I always wanted to make sure that he can get a job that pays well

I'm not having the kid go to University for 7 years and then he gets a job for 30k baht/mo

Before he got the scholarship offer we were going to tell him he has to come to Canada for a year and if he didn't like it, he didn't have to stay

But he's lucky to get PR doing nothing when so many work hard to get it so he should give it a try

He will come next summer for the 2 months before he starts his Masters, if that's what he ends up doing

I think the wait time in NZ is around 2 years.. not 100% sure but I know it is a long time.

Yeah I'm shocked it is so quick

Given it's the 2nd biggest step in Immigration besides Citizenship

Don't know how long regular PR process takes though

Im sure you guys will make the right choice for him, its just him agreeing.

I was shocked how much my son gets paid now he has finished Uni. He got head hunted a few weeks ago from his job he was doing a few years while studding and I was expecting a good offer.

They get paid stuff all. Trades guys get shit loads more.

As I mentioned before Thailand is tough

Big reason I am going over this time
To sit down and go over his options

I don't want the kid going to school for 7 years and end up in a Government job making 40k baht/mo

It does seem this Masters is a path to a Medical Examiners job and that pays very well in Thailand

As for PR and his choice
I've always been that way, allow him to make his own choices

But he's lived a pretty damn charmed life compared to most Thais
Compared to his Mom and Uncle's upbringing
Oh and compared to his step-dad!

And once again he gets something that others wish for
So if the Masters wasn't a good option I would highly encourage he comes to Canada for 1 year and see how he likes it

Then it's really up to him

Although up to him and his choices he also doesn't get to depend on us for support with his family in the future (although I've already been budgeting that in to retirement)

Do you ever think he might have had it too easy and doesn't really appreciate the opportunity he has in front of him?

"But he's lived a pretty damn charmed life compared to most Thais"

You had it hard growing up... and I think it makes you more appreciative of what you have... if he doesn't know what hardship is like, then it's more difficult to know when you have it good... I don't know how someone gets that perspective without "living it"?

Just the same as any upper middle class kid

Don't know how you make it hard for a kid like that except to make them work

But as I said before that's a bit hard in Thailand

If he were in North America I'd tell him I'd pay for his Masters but he has to get a job and pay for his apartment and living expenses but you can't really do that in Thailand

But if he stays in Thailand for his Masters he can come here and work for 2-3 months and save enough money for his monthly expenses
