Road trips - driving

I did the RV on my American trip with my buddy Chris about 5 years ago was a blast.

Have done a few local trips with the kids, Kalgoorlie was the last and we are off to Albany week after next. (5.5hrs south). The kids are lay back no issue traveling with them.

Maybe my 3 or 4 days should be a week or more, I'm not in a rush. We have friends in HH and Bangkok so could make some stops. KR suggested awhile back to send our luggage to CM once we land in Phuket. We have a fair bit of luggage you know two bikes and spare parts.......oh and the kids stuff.

I'm not good at long days driving, 4hrs straight is about my limited but the wife can drive as long as it not a stick.

Actually they are so we said will do Albany

Funny story, step son wanted to be a miner, once he went to the Kalgoorlie museum decided it was too much hard work and said to his sister......you can be a gold digger looks like easy work...

Albany I'm down for.

Done the Kal drive more than one. Staring at that damn pipeline the whole way and back drives me nuts.

Kids researched the pipe line, stopped a few times along the way for the normal Asian 100 photos each stop.

4 days would be a huge rush for that drive, IMO

I'd take at least a week

Stop South of Hua Hin like Anmeno's area, around there

Stop in HH
Stop in Kanchanburi

Stop at Sai Yok National Park

What's your rush, you are retired
Unless the kids need to get settled in CM
My area is a detour if the goal is to use the shortest road to Chiang Mai, but it is an area that not to many foreigners come to see so it is maybe perfect for a road trip, I use about 5 hours from Patong.

We have stopped a few times on drives around the area
All very local
You can find some good deals for hotels

One beach we really liked
Good restaurants on beach

It had a German sounding name
Can't remember it

In my twenties I crossed the US six times from 1976 to 1980. No phone. No credit card. Crappy cars. What a blast...
