Anyone ever do this to get back to BKK?

If so, what is the realistic time frame from door to door?

thanks

you can get a mini-bus transfer which usually sets off about 5 hours-ish before the scheduled flight....takes about 40 mins from this side of the island to the ferry...about an hour and a half for the embarkation-ferry crossing-disembarkation and then another good hour to the airport from Don Sak pier

If you haven't already bought the air tickets definitely use BKK Airways from the island

Just read on Trip Advisor 1hr 15 on Ferry and another 1hr 15 in van to Airport , seems like a lot of hassle when Bangkok Air fly from Samui

only thing is the flight times suck from Samui and i will pay 176usd vs about 70usd
wouldn't care about the 100usd difference if the flght time was decent

but i may just do BKK Air, just have to leave early, then deal with probably no room until later in BKK....but can hang out at the pool

just that i plan on arriving in Samui early evening 1st night..........so was hoping to get at least half a day on Samui on last day, not leave so early

There's flights from 06:00 to 22:00 leaving Samui to BKK , every 90 mins approx , I just put a random date in the Bangkok Air site

Had a look too.. But there are flights in the day time on any day I checked.. ( are you looking at the Bangkok airways site or a booking site?)
THai airways flies direct as well..
Or you could check Samui- U tapao, bit of a taxi ride, but easier than the detour to Surat Thani...

Ok,i was led to believe that it headed west to the mainland.
Was looking at the AirAsia Island hop thingo they have....substitute Surat Thani town with province (Don Sak)
Bit of a PITA,little Moo Noi might have to wait for his first beach experience some more.

i didn't know Thai flew direct
i booked them on a 9:30am flight and what is great is it is refundable with a 500baht penalty so if a better flight comes up i can eat the 500baht

It was something like 40k baht for the 3 of us to fly direct to Koh Samui with BK Air and 13k with AA island transfer.

GF has a friend that lives and works there.
Could probably fly to ST and hire a car for a few days.

Moo Noi loves an adventure and i think that seeing the sea would blow his sox off, although just driving around in a car usually does it for him.

no doubt the duopoly of BKK Airlines and Thai maintain higher prices than should be on this island....and I would definitely consider the AA Surat Thani Transfer option if I had a family like you do Moo...but for me as a single traveller the extra money wins out over inconvenience every time I fly

I've thought about taking the PCX over on the ferry and then on to ST Airport as an experiment....but then where to leave it at Surat Thai airport

^ if it were just me i'd probably be doing the direct thing too.

CNX has free scooter/bike parking,i've left mine there for up to week at a time while i've been away.
There's no cover so it's exposed to the sun and rain.

ST probably the same?

ST have free parking, it's also a military airport with a guarded gate where you have to leave the drivers license when you go in, you'll get it back when you leave.
