^ funny..I often take a look at the Crystal Bay W/C before heading down to Coral Cove (next bay around) for a swim/snorkel...good for telling if the wind is onshore/offshore whether there are rough waves and if its sunny or not down there

I was always puzzled people would look at MTB cam so much

I never looked at it once.

I can see looking at cams to see how the weather is

But to watch a bunch of people drink at a bar halfway around the world was bizarre to me

I think many may have been VIP Customers looking in on their investments...555

For the exact reason to see if they were focused on weather conditions so that could be helpful in the future

I still will never get someone looking at a webcam of a bar
I am pretty most people have real life bars in their towns! 555

Imagine the feeling watching your sponsored gal (that you trusted so much, and she is different to others) walking off with some customer.......
Then each night after you talk with her on skype and she says she is going to sleep you watch the cam. She comes in the bar and every night she goes off with a customer or two.

Didn't the sponsored girls hide on the other side of the Bar , think the camera only covered half of it ... ;) 555

^ they knew where to hide. Left side from the cam was the blind spot and where they would sit/hide 55

I live 300m from a good beach and always check the cam before I swim as sometimes the surf is just too big and rough to swim or wind too strong to make it comfortable...saves a walk for nothing as I use our pool then..... Handy.

Moo do you ever swim in the Currumbin River ? Looks like a good spot to get out of the wind .

I use to TT but I need a wave to enjoy a swim these days.
My local is Northcliffe and it's one of the open beaches which isn't good when it's rough but nice when it's relatively calm.
Living at Tweed before you could always find a protected beach depending on which direction the wind was coming from. Use to go down to Fingal quite a bit as either side of the lighthouse head was protected from the northerly or southerly. No shark nets there and a few attacks and sightings that put me off a bit eventually 55

I used to use the Surf cams.

Even when I was in Townsville I'd look at the Kirra or Snapper Rocks ones then I'd be talking with mates still back in Coolangatta and they would be telling me how I missed a great session yesterday it was 6 ft and glass.....Yea BULL....t I had seen it was on shore and blown out. 555555

I know a lot of people do swim in the still water of the river but I wouldn't there have been many Bull Sharks caught off the bank there.

I think there was an attack there about 5 years ago.

Same goes for all the rivers on the Gold Coast and canals, Bull Sharks are a real problem.

I can't remember where I read about it but a group were surveying the top end of the Brisbane river and were using special equipment they stopped counting the Bull Sharks at 1,200.

^ always reports of shark sightings at Fingal. Seen a fin or 2 myself and don't go there to swim anymore.
Great whale and dolphin spotting place. Go there regularly.

We would have been surfing in the same areas at those times.

I moved to Tweed in 78. Over the years I sold a fair bit of property at Fingal, problem was and I guess still is, flood levels. When it rains big that Tweed River can grow at an incredible rate.
Fingal and Chindra would go under by 6-8ft and the residents would be rescued by the surf club boats from Coolangatta and Kingscliff.

I used to drive down to Cabbarita point if Kirra was small or blown out in the morning before going to work. I would check the Sth side of Fingal on the way but mostly went to Cabba.

I prefer right hand point breaks having grown up surfing The Bower and Dee Why Point.

^ I lived in Kingscliff 80/81 and remember a lot of the houses in Fingal and Chindera were built on Stilts / Poles because of the flooding . Didnt think about it much at the time ...I spent most of my Waking hours Surfing and chasing chicks 55555 Great place back then , wish I had some money and a Brain and could have bought some Real estate, but back then my little head did all of the thinking 555
