Siem Reap info needed

My low season trip is not even here yet but I'm already planning for my high season trip. Looking to do 2 nights in Siem Reap. Agenda is simple.

Do some sight seeing in the daytime and hit some nightspots in the evening. I'll be going with TMT who's been to SR before (albeit with a lady) so he has the temple bits covered but in terms of nightlife any specific advise to give? How much do I need for a night out there? Ladies?

Cheers

Stayed Ta Phrom and played pool with an FL ST from Mikey's (next to Loft) on Sivatha Rd, she was a good player 555 and cost about 2000Thb

I don't even bother with P4P when i go to SR...its ropey and very hit and miss...most of the better places on Pub St (main entertainment area) don't even allow unescorted Khmer girls in....it was once a different story going back 10+ years with Sharkey's and the like however there was a huge clampdown around then and lots of P4P places got closed down

Harry's is certainly a joint where you can find company but the gals in there are a little "rough" for me...loads of massage girls are on the game as well but all of that is set up for in-house handys etc...plus any tuk tuk driver will be full of ideas about where to take you for a "brothel" experience

Much harder to come by is the Thai type of "GF" experience...I got lucky at The Hip Hop Club last year with a lovely Khmer girl who worked as a FL'er at Climax BKK every other month...but as I said above P4P is not really my style in SR

Phnon Penh however..oh yeah!

I went to Hip Hop club before it burned....but i am guessing they rebuilt it. There were LOTS of eligible ladies....but i brought a thai lady and they were off limits. But i would be willing to give it another go.

Pub st is great for a meal or beer or some mixing with young travellers but thats about it as far as I could see
All the major arteries near town have gaudily lit carparks with 'Massage' signs , but look like they are run by mafia/big business and I never saw foreigners coming or going
After PP , 'Harrys' girls were bawdy and awful
Id BYO friend from PP if its still the same now , or just rest up the 2 nights as the temple stuff can be exhausting in the heat

Tbh mongering isn't a priority for me there. I'm going just to see Angkor wat as whatever else I can squeeze into 2 days. Sounds like it can be a bit hit or miss but it is there if you look around.

The temples are exhausting and dragging a THAi girl to walk all day in the heat can be hit or miss as well. I have not been back in 3-4 years. But theKhmer clubs will give you what you want..... If you feel like hitting them.

I know most of guys on here looking for company don't speak much about Pub St but is there good places for me to go to with my 19yr old nephew and his gf?

Pub St would be perfect for them...loads of great restaurants and bars...a true walking street...and plenty of backpacker types their own age wandering about taking it all in

there are plenty of side sois and sois that run parallel which have groovy little cafes, bars and restaurants in them....some with live music as well

Its all very compact in that nightlife area...just wander about until you find a place you like

Pub Street is good.

There are lots of interesting temples to go to near Angkor Wat.

Such as

Bayon

Banteay Srei

Phnom Bakheng which offers a good view of Angkor Wat at sunset.

One of my favorites Phimeanakas

And if they are into Lara Croft movies, Ta Prohm

Tonle Sap lake good also

pick a hotel with a pool , do some tours early morning and afternoon , 12-2 cool down at the hotel , recharge your camera batteries

i stayed at the Stueng Siemreap Hotel , just around the corner from Pub St

^ yep...Tonle Sap is a great day out...you get to see how the fishermen and their families live in houses on stilts out on the lake and how they make their living...

I recomend this to everyone I know who goes to SR as it breaks up the temple days and reduces "Temple Fatigue"...and its nice to be out on the water relaxing and taking it all in for a day there...SR gets very hot so this is nice relief...

Get out to the temples early before the crowds arrive...see the big popular ones first thing in the morning as early as you can (dawn is great) Angkor, Bayon, Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm which are in the inner circle and then when the crowds get too much make your way out to the smaller ones or make your way back to your resort for a dip in the pool (as SE Suggests) to relax out of the heat..if you wish you can head out again in the late afternoon and see some great sunsets over the temples
