I stayed at the Galleria on 12 once..but maybe 5-6 years ago...it was OK for a reasonable price..B1800-ish iirc...not a lot going on in that soi...pretty quiet...it is next to Korea Town so it has a little bit of that influence...most famous joint along there is Cabbages and Condoms...

I much prefer soi 8 along there..it has a nice mix of restaurants (I really like Kinaree and Monsoon) and bars (sports bars like the Kiwi) + some nice enough 3-4 star hotels, including an Adelphi and a Citadines ...

check out this vid...shows a walk through of the soi...there is one for soi 12 as well

Yeah I know Soi 8 is well regarded
I think that is where Jim is staying

There is a hotel on Soi 12 that has an amazing pool area

Never stayed in 12 but dined at Cabbage and Condoms many times which is around 100 metres in. At the entrance are various Korean shops and spas but haven't been. There was a nightclub nearer Suk, but I think it closed a few years ago. Half way between Asoke and Nana BTS, yet not much else going for it as a holiday base IMO.

You pointing out Soi 8 which I do really like brings up a question

Is there a back street that connects Soi 8/10/12 that anyone knows so we don't have to go down to Suk, well going ok, but getting would be easier going out back

one of the best hotel pools in BKK (of the 30 odd hotels I must have stayed in) is the one in Pachara Suites on Soi 6...the pool is huge. is rarely used and it is under cover but still outdoors...there is a long area along one side (facing the soi) which is out in the sun if you wish to use that...I prefer to sit in the shade..but there is a nice view from the sunny side so I generally sit there for 15-20 mins before getting back under cover..the one bedroom suites in that hotel are very nice as well..a little oldish now but still fine..iirc I paid less than 3K a night for a one bedroom suite (like an appartment) last time

1st time I ever went to Soi 8 was a Songkran night because Soi 11 was a bit mad

I really liked it a lot

And with the Ninja Monster wife..............I always have to figure out food nearby 5555

Sabai Lodge in soi 2 Pattaya has good pools. Not stayed there for 10 years though and the rooms were dated even back then...

I know it's not Bangkok but if you like good pools... not far away... 55

I actually might be in Pattaya for the last night of my trip

Depending on what Nut is up to........
If he's busy then likely go to Pattaya on way back from Koh Samet

But if he is around then will go to BKK

Would it be listed under Ibis or Novotel? I want to try a new soi Bangkok too, although I've only done 11 once. Does 8 have a few massage joints? The regular kind.

@m26 this was the pool at Mercure on soi 11. Big and not covered. There are some big sized sun-sofa loungers too with umbrellas.

I decided to stay at 12th Avenue Hotel

I just love their pool setup..........right up my alley

That is a bit too much concrete for me
I really like to have a lot of a trees/grass around the pool

You're in Bangkok, not the South. 555
