Will I have an issue?

We are going back to Thailand in January

That will be my 2nd time entering in 10 months
That I'm not concerned with because I will be with Ao

But then I am going to Vietnam and Laos solo then flying back to Thailand solo

It's that 3rd time solo I am bit worried about

I'm thinking bringing proof of my flight back to Vancouver 3 days later as well as my marriage certificate may help??

shouldn't be an issue , I had some questions, when I went back after a few weeks after a two month stay ... but 10 months and you are using Thailand as your hub ... no problem

I have entered plenty of times in one year never had a issue, and wasn't traveling with a Thai.

If you are concerned take your marriage certificate, just visiting family.

Times have changed, you'll be lucky to get three entries per annum now at air border checkpoints, entering VE (visa exempt), without being pulled over, questioned, warned, and being told to get the correct visa for the purpose of your visit, which will be noted on their database.

If you are concerned take your marriage certificate, just visiting family.
If the purpose of the visit is to visit Thai family, then you should be applying for the Non Imm O.
VE entry is for tourism.

How long is your intended trip before returning to Canada?

I arrive on Jan 30th with my wife

Then I fly to Vietnam on Feb 8th solo
Fly back into Bangkok solo from Laos on Feb 14th

Then flying back to Vancouver on the 17th

I will print out my Vancouver ticket and yes, bring my marriage certificate as well

And actually
Will print out my wife's ticket back to Vancouver on 17th as well

Just shows both of us are heading back to Vancouver together, that can't hurt

That's not clear.
Are you travelling from Vietnam to Lao via land?

Full itinerary please, trying to establish whether you'd be entering visa exempt 2 or 3 times within a short period of time.

My understanding is that you are allowed 2 x visa exempt entries in any 12 month period...any more than that and technically you can be denied entry....

of course in reality people are getting away with much more than that...in particular as Faz alludes to if you are flying in/out rather than doing border crossings on foot which they seem to be much stricter on...

If you really don't want to chance it why not get in touch with your local Thai consulate...they could best advise on this....it's pretty easy to get a 90 day tourist visa from them with multiple entries if they advise this just to be on the safe side...

AFAIK the limit of 2 exempt entries related to land borders. Flying in there is no 'official' limit.

However, the 'catch all' is the right of an IO to insist that you "have the appropriate visa for your stay in Thailand" i.e. if you are trying to live mainly in Thailand but are using visa exempts then you are likely to have issues.

You'd need to be going in and out every second month to have issues.
A very good friend of mine, semi retired accountant, Thai spouse, has regularly visited his spouse for the previous 6 years, usually 2 entries per year using VE entry, with stays between 45-60 days. In January, he was pulled aside, questioned about his history and the reason for his visits, which he explains was to visit his Thai spouse, provided a copy of his marriage certificate, before Immigration then spoke to his wife on her mobile.
He was informed in no uncertain terms that entering as a tourist was for tourism purposes, and in future he should get the appropriate vis for the purpose of his visit. They eventually allowed him in, but noted the warning on their database.
He entered again 2 weeks ago, but this time with a Non Imm O visa to visit Thai family, and had no problems.

Plenty of reports of being denied entry using VE.

It's a shit show in Thailand at the moment, so much so that agents have sprung up to guarantee VE entries.
Crossing land borders, you now have to stay 2/3 days in that Country, unless you pay one of border run company fees to ensure same day or next day entry.
Agents dealing with airport entries to guarantee safe entry @4,5000 BHT a pop. You're met by an Immigration official that will usher you through Immigration.
Corruption is rife!

Banks will no longer open bank accounts for foreigners deemed tourists, that's VE, TR, or DTV holders.
At the moment, due to the recent call centre scams, and the following investigations, banks are tightening security, members of bank staff have been arrested for their corrupt participation in opening bank accounts to facilitate the scams, and now vetting and security screening existing customers.
Just last week I was contacted and requested to attend my bank branch with as much ID as I held, when I inquired why, I was told failure to comply would result in my account being closed (already reports of this happening).
What they copied was my passport ID page, but most interested in my Immigration status (Non Immigrant) and 1 year extension stamp, proof of Thai address, fortunately I have a yellow house book and Thai ID card foreigners, Thai driving licences, proof of marriage, and the one thing I didn't take along, proof of my UK address, regardless of how old it may be. I returned with a solicitors letter addressed to me in the UK, which was acceptable.

If @MarcTwoSix, as I suspect, intends to make 3 VE entries within the space of a fortnight, it will raise suspicions.

Thai Embassies/Consulates are controlled by Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and don't have a clue about internal affairs in Thailand, which are controlled by Thai Immigration, a division of the RTP. Marc may be well advised to obtain the multiple entry Tourist visa as you advised, only they are valid to enter Thailand for 180 days (not 90). Each entry permits a stay of up to 60 days, which can be extended a further 30 days.

Yeah I don't know about that, but apples and oranges. M26 is not doing 45-60 day stuff, so completely unrelated.

^^ I had to re-present my passport before my AIS eSIM would work. Comment was government policy change, but I am not sure if this was the case. They said I won't need to do it again!

Re visas, didn't realise I was dodging all of this with my APEC card. I would enter anywhere between 5 to 10 times a year e.g. two entries often when combining with business trips. Only once has an immigration agent asked if I have a Thai family. I said yes, and he smiled, and that was it.

Sounds like you can tell Ao she is "dumped" for a few weeks and you are a tourist, M26.

What Marc is contemplating is almost back to back VE entries and there are new policies in place now to prevent that, unless you're prepared to pay the agent fees for guaranteed entry. Entry by air is totally at the discretion of the Immigration official, there is no written policy on the number of VE entries by air.

^ But he says it's the second time entering in 10 months. Then a visit outside before coming back. I've done that before going to Cambodia, etc and back, no problem.

You need to have stayed there for weeks, before existing and entering again to get flagged. They're just looking for classic boarder-run patterns, and his movement doesn't exhibit that, so I'd be very surprised if he gets anything more than one question, but highly doubt even that.

Yes flying into BKK with wife Jan 30
Flying out Feb 8 BKK-DAD solo
Flying to LPQ from DAD via Hanoi

Then flying back to Thailand solo Feb 14

Then flying to Vancouver Feb 17

I think I will be alright even if questioned

But I also don't mind spending the money for a multiple entry visa at the consulate here

That will only be 2 VE entries within a short period of time, you should be OK.
You'll have to complete the TDAC for each entry and carry 20,000 BHT cash for each entry.
Entering VE you'll also probably be required to show an outbound flight by the airline, which you have to return to Vancouver.
